Session Timers for XenDesktop Server and Desktop VDAs

Idle to Disconnect

Desktop VDA

This is a combination of Citrix Policy settings:

• Session Idle Timer (Enabled)
• Session Idle Timer Interval (Value in Minutes)

Server VDA

This setting is located in the ICA > Server Limits node.

Disconnect to Terminate/Logoff

Desktop VDA

Citrix Policy Settings:

• Disconnected session timer (Enabled)
• Disconnected session timer interval (Value in Minutes)

NOTE: The above settings have been problematic in some situations. In this case,

Server VDA

Group Policy:

Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Session Time Limits > Set time limit for disconnected sessions.

This can also be under the User Configuration node in Group Policy, but is overriden by the Computer Configuration setting.
