XenDesktop VMs and Power Management

Problem

While scaling out a new Delivery Group, only a few machines could be powered on at a given moment.

Cause

By default, XenDesktop Delivery Groups are set to only keep 10% of the machines up, especially if no peak hours were defined for the Delivery Group.

Resolution

To ensure that 100% of the desktops (both server-based and workstation-based) are up at all times, run the following command:

Set-BrokerDesktopGroup -Name -OffPeakBufferSizePercent 100 -PeakBufferSizePercent 100
